Paul Fromm, Sr of Dallas Tx, a native of Columbus Ms passed away suddenly at the age of  81. Mr. Fromm and his wife, Peggy, recently moved to Bham to be closer to family.

The family will have a small gathering at the farm of Steve and Marsha Ward, Mr. Fromm's brother and sister in law, instead of funeral or graveside services, date and time to be determined at a later date. Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fromm began his career with AAFES at the early age of 18 while still in high school. Over the next 36 years, he worked in nearly every area of the AAFES organization, from an hourly paid clerk to the highest-ranking civilian in a workforce of 71,000 people.  His first job was as a stockroom clerk at Columbus Air Force Base, MS. Then he served as stockroom manager, and eventually as the retail store manager, preparing him for leadership roles for the remainder of his career in the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. In 1985 Mr. Fromm was selected for COO, one of the youngest to achieve this position. He retired at a special rate Grade UA-16 which is equivalent to a 3 Star General.  He was recognized by the US Congress and an American flag was flown over our nation's capital in his honor.

During Mr. Fromm's time with AAFES, the family lived all over the southeast/midwest region and the island of Guam in the South Pacific.

Mr. Fromm is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy, 3 children, Pam Aldridge, Paul Fromm, Jr, Barbara Caylor, his sister Barbara McManus, 9 grandchildren – Billy Holman, Jake Fromm, Peyton Aldridge, Zack Gardner, Kadie Aldridge, Anna Fromm, Anna Fromm, Michael Caylor, Faith Snider, and C.J. Snider; 5 great-grandchildren – Braxten Aldridge, Cooper Bailey, Wakley Aldridge, Larson Aldridge, and Emersyn Gardner.
