Pearley Gene
Freeman
January 13, 1947 – May 13, 2026
In Loving Memory of Pearley Gene Freeman
January 13, 1947 – May 13, 2026
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we honor Pearley Gene Freeman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, veteran, and man of unwavering faith.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Columbus Church of Christ, 2401 7th Street North in Columbus, MS. Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at the church. Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.
Born on January 13, 1947, to Jim and Alice Freeman, Pearley was raised with strong values, a deep work ethic, and a quiet strength that became the foundation of his life. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Pearley married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Beene Freeman, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith over 58 beautiful years. He was a proud father to four daughters: Gena Hines (Roman Fields), Carla Woods (Daryl Woods), Sara Bennett (Paul Bennett), and LeAnne Autry (Chad Autry). He cherished his role as “Grandpa” and “Pawpaw” to Dalton Hines, Dylan Hines, Corey Woods, Jaden Bennett, Maddie Bennett, Bella Woods, and Jonas Autry—and 6 great grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Pearley worked for many years at Weyerhaeuser in maintenance before retiring, but he was far more than his job title. A true jack of all trades, there was little he couldn’t fix or build. He loved woodworking, tinkering with engineering projects, and using his hands and mind to create, repair, and help.
Above all, Pearley’s life was rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ. He fully believed that Jesus is the Son of God, who died on the cross to save us from our sins. He lived each day as a reflection of that belief—quietly, selflessly, and with integrity. He loved his church family dearly and found strength and joy in fellowship and service.
Pearley is survived by his sister, Pearl LeBeouf. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Alice Freeman, and his siblings Wince Freeman, Jeraldine Escobar, Sue Otts, and Jimmy Freeman.
Pearley Gene Freeman will always be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and his faithful heart. His legacy is seen in the lives of those he loved and served—and will continue to be felt for generations to come.
