Obituary

Peggy Brandon Austin, 67, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, August 04, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, TN.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 7, 2016, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will be Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating and Dr. Bill Hurt assisting at Pleasant Hill Church, Columbus, MS. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Austin was born February 14, 1949, to the late O'Neal and Johnnie Estes Brandon in Columbus, MS. She was and operator for Bell Telephone, a manager for Hardin's Bread Store and Hardin's Bakery for over 20 years; and her most recent employment was an admissions clerk at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Peggy was known best by her generous, unselfish spirit. She most enjoyed making the people in her life happy, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them no matter the activity. Peggy cared deeply for everyone she knew and was always wiling to help someone in need. She had the kindest heart of anyone we know. Her life was an example of strength, hard work, and passion. Peggy lived a full and joyous life and held an unwavering faith that will be a legacy for many generations. "Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all." Proverbs 31:29. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-Wesley Brandon.

Mrs. Austin is survived by her husband-Jimmy Austin, Columbus, MS; son-Neal (Susan) Austin, Columbus, MS; grandchildren-Hunter Austin and Chase Austin; brothers-Pete (Cathy) Brandon and Danny (Theresa) Brandon, both of Belmont, MS; sister-in-law-Donna Wade, Columbus, MS; brother-in-law-Larry (Angie) Austin, Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Brandon, Dustin Brandon, Toby Brandon, Wesley Brandon, Rich Brandon, Justin Westover, Terry Nickoles, Taylor Collins, and Burkley Jernigan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, ICU Staff of Baptist East Memphis, TN, and Chuck Batts.
