Peggy Elizabeth Nickles, 80 of Caledonia, MS passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 10:30 AM at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Joe Fondren officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Nickles was born February 23, 1937, in Sturgis, MS to the late E.H. and Marie Taylor Fondren. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Nickles retired from Columbus TV Cable Company as a secretary after 17 years of service. She was on the Caledonia Board of Alderman for 16 years. Mrs. Nickles enjoyed bingo, gardening, cards, Yahtzee, cooking, canning, making jelly and being a homemaker. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nickles was preceded in death by her husbands – John Wayne Parham and Charles Henry Nickles; stepson – Charles "Chuck" Henry Nickles, Jr.; sisters – Ruth Easterling, Lou McDonald, and Ethel Ward; brothers – James Fondren, Charles Fondren, Jake Fondren and Lawrence Fondren.
Mrs. Nickles is survived by her sons – Quinn Parham, Caledonia, MS, Stan (Heather) Parham, Caledonia, MS, Jason (Cassidi) Nickles, Columbus, MS and Step-son - Jeff Nickles, Nashville, TN; step - daughter – Charlotte (Todd) Baucom, Aberdeen, MS; sisters – June (Vic) Lancaster, Columbus, MS, Mary Alice (Hubert) Ellis, Fairhope, AL; brother – in- law – John Ward, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren – John Parham, Emma Parham, Elizabeth (Cody) Tatum, Rushton Nickles, Harley (Andy) Hatcher; Bridget Tedford; Dale Ferrell and Marah (Scotti) Carley; great-grandchildren – Madison Hatcher, Mason Tatum, Oakley Tatum, Camden Ferrell, Aubrey Carley, Alex Carley, Ava Carley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Regan Wheat, Chris Walton, Mae Kellar, Myrtle Lou Burke, Leamon (Gail) Street, Grover Cunningham, Mike Beatty, Jay Dahlem, Chris Jones, Johnny Gilmer, Randall (Landa) Flippo, Jerry (Helen) Brackin and Zack (Brenda) Westbrook, Lee Younger, Wayne (Lena Mae) Duncan, Betty Barksdale, Walt(Brenda) Willis, Roy Lee, Phyllis Lindsey, David (Misty) Blair and the Staff and Doctors of Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
