Perla Aldridge, 86, of Caledonia passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. Mrs. Aldridge was born in Monroe County and was the last surviving child of Loncie Jones Brown and Marshall Brown of Monroe County. Mrs. Aldridge retired from United Technologies of Columbus after 34 years of service. Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her husband, Bueal Edgar Aldridge, and twin grandsons, Jonathan and Bradley Aldridge, all of Caledonia, and her sisters, Clarice Brown of Monroe County and Avalene Northington of Joplin, Missouri as well as brothers, Tranny and Odell Brown of Birmingham, James Brown of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, and J.V. Brown of Zion, Illinois. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Jane) Aldridge of Caledonia; Kay Aldridge of Caledonia; Janice (Steve) Gilliam of Houston, Texas; Jean (Dwight) Colson of Caledonia; and Judy (Hubert) Watson of West Point. Mrs. Aldridge is survived by 10 grandchildren - Tyler and Lindsay Aldridge of Caledonia; Donnie (Angel) Pennington and April Davis (Steve) of Birmingham; Andrew Gilliam of Houston, Texas; Amy Gilliam (Brett) Parson of Manassas, VA; Emily (Stan) Bates of Caledonia, Michael (Shauntel) Colson of Sacramento, California; Rebecca (Jeff) Rutherford and Bert Watson of Starkville, MS. Mrs. Aldridge is also survived by 5 great grandchildren - Ryan Bates and Aubrey Aldridge Wilson of Caledonia, Abbey Davis of Birmingham, Zane Gilliam of Houston, Texas, and soon-to-be Katherine Colson of Sacramento, California. Mrs. Aldridge devoted herself to her family. She was a great mother, grandmother, and "Gigi" (great-grandmother) to her family. She also gave tirelessly of herself to her expanded family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel of Columbus with services immediately following at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
