Phillip Gary Horton, 73 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his residence.

A memorial service will be Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Whitehall Church, Louisville, MS.  Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Horton was born February 28, 2018 to the late William Edward and Gladys Horton in Louisville, MS.  He retired in 1996 from United Technologies where he worked as a tool & dye maker for over 20 years.  After retirement Mr. Horton enjoyed coon hunting and was a member of the CKC Coon dog Association.  He also enjoyed breeding and raising several types of dogs. He was a shade tree mechanic and was very knowledgeable when it came to working on cars.  He also liked doing projects around the house.  Mr. Horton especially loved family and being with his kids and grandkids.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter – Kathy Diane Horton and grandson – Malik Wallace.

Mr. Horton is survived by his daughters – Shelley (Charles Oxendine) Hunt, New Martinsville, WV, Stella Christy Horton, SC and Kady Horton, Columbus, MS; son – Phillip (Taylor Parks) Horton, Columbus, MS; sister – Patricia Horton, Iuka, MS; grandchildren – Deanna Locklear, Trenton Locklear, Tracie Jacobs, Gabriel Taylor, Dane Taylor, Christian Taylor, Claire Taylor, Jacob Horton, Gabriel "Gabe" Horton, Jamiya Williams and James Williams; very special friend – Retha Black.
