Phyllis Ann Sheneberger Rice Passed away on 11/4/2013 at the age of 97 and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Jennie Barbara Moses Sheneberger and Milton Elmer Sheneberger. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Herman Rice of Dolgeville, NY. They were married November 16, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Before their marriage she worked at McKesson Robbins and later she worked at the Daniel Green Shoe Company for 11 years. They had lived in up-state New York, Mt. Dora, FL, Charlotte, NC, and Columbus, MS. Phyllis played violin in the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra for six years prior to their marriage and continued to play in several churches until she was 84. She was currently a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Columbus, MS. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Wilbur (Robert) of Columbus, MS, and, Mary Noble (Douglas) of Charlotte, NC. She leaves five grandchildren: Robert W. Wilbur, Madison MS, Gregory D. Wilbur (Sophia) Franklin, TN, Christiana Guerrero (Eric) of Columbus MS, Mark D. Noble, Chapel Hill, NC, and Catherine (Andrew) of Charlotte, NC, and one great granddaughter, Eleanor J.K. Wilbur , a sister, Grace Winters, in Watertown, MN, and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was blessed to have many close friends and family. Phyllis's enjoyment of words led her to a lifelong love of writing poetry and several hymns. She was residing at Windsor, Plantation Point, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 515 North Lehmberg, Columbus, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements. Interment will be in Inghams Mills Cemetery, Inghams Mills, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 515 North Lehmberg, Columbus, MS 39702 or Gamboa Union Church, Sydney Corbett 231 SE 45th Terrace Ocala, FL 34471 .
