Ralph Hooks, 92 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his residence. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 2-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Jessie Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Hooks was born January 23, 1920 in Bailey, MS to the late Rutherford M. and Edna Webb Hooks. He has been a native of Lowndes County for the last 44 years, having moved from Mobile, AL. Mr. Hooks was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served with honor during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1984 from the Columbus Air Force Base with thirty-one years of service as an Aircraft Mechanic. Mr. Hooks was a member of First Assembly of God, Columbus, MS, there he served as a musician in the church orchestra and played the violin on special occasions. He worked together with his wife, Juanita for over twenty years in women's jail ministry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooks is also preceded in death by his sister, Edna Earle Minchew. Mr. Hooks is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita M.(Walls) Hooks, Columbus, MS, son- Bobby (Beverly) Hooks, Starkville, MS, daughter- Mary Ann Garrett (Freddie Chasi), Columbus, MS, 5 grandchildren-Amy (Larry) Weaver, Kathryn (Kennon) Vaughan, Randolph Jack (Jamie) Garrett, Morgan (Daniel) Trotter, Marylea (Josh) Thornton, 10 Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kennon Vaughan, Josh Thornton, Freddie Chasi, Bart Wood, Scott Tilley and Ken Trull. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert C. Crigler, W. David Dunn, James D. Graham, Clyde P.
