Richard Cox,76, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at North Medical Center, West Point, MS.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 10-11 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Cox was born January 6, 1943, in Aberdeen, MS to the late Mavis Youngblood and E. Mac Cox. Mr. Cox served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Cox worked as Quality Control at Omnova Solutions for 30 Years. He was a part of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association and enjoyed raising Tennessee Walking Horses.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife-Myra Richardson Cox, Columbus, MS; sons- Chad (Dana) Cox, Athens, GA and Jarrett Cox, Columbus, MS; sisters- Jan (Bil) Wray, West Point, MS; brothers- Bobby Mac (Arlene) Cox,Collierville, TN, Billy Wayne (Ann) Cox, West Point, MS, and Terry (Lisa) Cox, Aberdeen, MS; grandchildren- Ashleigh Teel, Bailey Cox, Tucker Cox, Kimberly Cox,Ella Peek, Harris Peek, Julianne Peek, Desmond Cox, and Ava Cox.
Pallbearers will be Brett Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Brad Wray, Corey Wray, Bill Wray, and Daniel Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray and Betty Crane, Ira and Susie Andrews, Steve and Traci Ruth Tommy and Cheryl Forrester, Jimmy and Dona Hildreth, Billy and Glenda Little, Doug and Dewanna Murrah, Charlie and Doris Beasley, W.A. and Barbara Caldwell, and Suzanne Daffron.
