Robert "Doc" Bishop, 73 of Millport, AL passed away, Sunday, December 23, 2012 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Bishop will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 9 – 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Interment will be in Rowan Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Bishop was born October 5, 1939 to the late Walter Leon & Flora L McGee Bishop in Columbus, MS. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Bishop married Nancy Ward in 1971 and was the owner of Doc's Brake and A/C and Bishop's garage for 40 years. He moved to Millport from Columbus 18 years ago and attended Border Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Bishop, Millport, AL and sons – Brian Bishop, Starkville, MS and Andy (Becky) Bishop, Millport, AL. Pallbearers will be Bob Ferguson, Rick Bishop, Gene Robertson, Curtis Sparks, Randy Delk and John Dodson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buford Crowe, Bill Betts, Hank Gunter, Tommy Wiggins, Chuck Bishop, Dr. Mark Ellis, Lee Hackett, Dr. Jerry Stennett, Dr. Wail Alnas & the Cancer Center Employees, Lisa Camp and West Alabama Hospice.
