Robert G. Burns Robert Garven Burns, 87 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his residence. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 1p.m. – 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Honeycutt officiating. Mr. Burns was born Janaury 2, 1924 in Lowndes Co., MS to the late Rufus Garven Burns and Jessie Goodman Burns. He was a lifetime resident of the Lowndes Co. area. Mr. Burns retired in 1983 from CAFB as grounds supervisor with 26 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy CB's and served in the South Pacific Theater. Since 1950 he had been a member of Columbus Fair Association and had served as President since 1982. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 65 years Juanita V. Burns, Columbus, MS; daughters – Carolyn (Sam) Kaye, Columbus, MS; Anna (Gary) Peters, Columbus, MS; Susie (John) Lindsey, Columbus, MS; Jane (Bo) Jordan, Columbus, MS and son – Jimmy (Ladona) Burns, Northport, AL; eleven grandchildren – Ryan Neault, Jessica Hartman, Susanna Santos Oglesby, Robert Santos, Gary Peters, Jeremy Burns, Jimmy Burns, Jr., Josie Burns, Justin Lindsey, Michael Lindsey and Rebecca Hutcheson and eight great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Burns, Dewayne Burns, Sonny Burns, Joey Brown, Billy Brown and Mike Brown. Memorials may be made to Baptist Hospice, P. O.
