Robert Battle Duncan, 74 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

A graveside service will be Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Egger Cemetery with military honors, Bro. Charlie Whitney officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Duncan was born on October 23, 1945, in Columbus, MS to the late Carl Pickett and Luvie Maude Hopper Duncan.  He was a member of McBee Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a member and speaker for Gideon's International.  Mr. Duncan was a retired veteran of the United States military with 40 years of service.  He retired in 2015 from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Duncan was a president, steward, and member of the American Postal Workers Union #2070.  He was a former Lions Club member and board member of the Columbus Members Credit Union for 19 years.  Mr. Duncan enjoyed woodworking and loved watching his grandchildren play ball.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his brothers – Carl Gene Duncan and Jimmy Owen Duncan.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 54 years – Nelda Jacobs Duncan, Columbus, MS; daughter – Amanda Baty, Aberdeen, MS; son – Michael (Karen) Duncan, Caledonia, MS; grandchildren – Angel (Scott) Hoeckendorf, and Isabel Baty; great-grandchild – Kade Hoeckendorf.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Faris, Robbie Jacob, Chad Baty, Jeremy Townley, Greg Jacobs, Scott Hoeckendorf.  Honorary pallbearers will be the 2 ^nd 114 ^th Mississippi National Guard, Present and former members of American Postal Workers Union #2070.
