Robert Earl Pope, 80 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, March 05, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

A visitation will be Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 in Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Breck Ladd, Bro. Sammy Crawford and Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating.  Interment will be at Blackwater Cemetery, Daleville, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Pope was born July 19, 1941, in Jackson, MS to the late Walter Duke and Nellie Dye Pope. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus MS.  Mr. Pope retired from Mississippi Valley Gas where he was a Corrosion Engineer for 41 years.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed carpentry.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his sister – Carolyn Ann Hoffpauir.

Mr. Pope is survived by his wife of 55 years – Dudley Stennis Pope, Columbus, MS; son – Brooks (Lynn) Pope, Columbus, MS; grandchildren – Abbey Pope and Nathaniel Pope and sister – Claire, Cohen, New Hope, PA.
