Ron Thomas Ronald Thomas Vail, 66 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the VA Hospital, Birmingham, AL. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2 PM at Yorkville Heights Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Bobby Richardson officiating. Mr. Vail was born January 25, 1947 in Clay County, MS to the late William Ray and Nelrose Moore Vail. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four tours, Vietnam, and earned 3 Bronze Stars. Mr. Vail was a member of Yorkville Heights Church, Columbus, MS and served as a missionary in the Phillipines for 2 years. He worked for the Corps of Engineers for 22 years and worked part time as a Boat Captain for Kinder Morgan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Sue Jordan. Mr. Vail is survived by his wife Bonnie Vail, Columbus, MS, children, David (Jennifer) Miller and Amy (Brian) Barksdale both of Columbus, MS, Carly (Bolie Douglas) Stokes, Porterville, MS, brother, Felix Vail, Montpelier, MS, sisters, Beth (Bob) Keys, Columbus, MS and Kay (Bunchie) Faulkner, Montpelier, MS, and one grandchild.
