Ronald "Ronnie" Ponds Ronald "Ronnie" Kirby Ponds, 56 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at his residence. Visitation was held Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 2 – 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 3 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Robert Gillis officiating. Interment was in Beersheba Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Ponds was born October 7, 1955 in Columbus, MS to Annie Ruth Pridmore Ponds and the late Kirby Ponds. He retired in 2011 as a technician with the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. Mr. Ponds was a lifetime resident of Columbus, MS. He attended Oakman First Baptist Church, Oakman, AL. Mr. Ponds loved learning, spoke German and taught himself French, and loved arts and crafts. He had varied interests and was a very intelligent man. Mr. Ponds enjoyed his dogs, Taylor, Ellie, and the late Emily. In addition to his father, Mr. Ponds is preceded in death by his stepson – William Wesley Swain. In addition to his mother – Mr. Ponds is survived by his wife – Emma Joyce Ponds, Columbus, MS; stepchild – Exyah Swain (Jody) Tant, Chesapeake, VA; sisters – Cynthia Ponds (Jimmy) Wilkinson and Lisa Ponds (Jay) Hodson, both of Columbus, MS; and grandchild – Michael Swain. Pallbearers were Stan Rector, Ed Ford, Roy Ford, Neal Wilkinson, John Wilkinson, John Green, Jimmy Wilkinson, and Gerald Lang. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
