Obituary

Roy C. Eads Roy C. Eads, 86, of Columbus, MS passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Eads will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services for Mr. Eads will follow at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Moore officiating and Bro. John Gainer assisting. Interment will be in Beersheba Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Eads was born March 16, 1925 to the late James Morgan and Ione Honnell Eads in Monroe County, MS and lived in the Lowndes County area his entire life. Mr. Eads was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II at the Battle of Normandy on Omaha Beach. He received numerous medals including a Purple Heart and a World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Eads was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Columbus, MS, the D.A.V, American Legion and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and especially spending time with his family. Mr. Eads retired from Occidental Chemical – Eka Nobel as a Tech Operator after 29 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eads was preceded in death by his brother – Woodie Eads, sisters – Beatrice Akin, Etheleen Pace, grandson – Nash Eads and great-grandson – Reid Fosberg, Mr. Eads is survived by his wife Beatrice Eads, Daughters – Brenda (Ed) Williamson and Debbie (Robert) Vest, Sons – Mike (Lisa) Eads, Ken (Sharon) Eads, John Eads all of Columbus, MS. Sisters – Irene Hankins, Aliceville, AL, Marie Wallace and Lavell Bennett, both of Columbus, MS, brothers – Herbert Eads, James Melvin Eads and Earl Ray Eads, all of Columbus, MS, 13 Grandchildren and 32 Great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mr. Eads Grandchildren – Shane Eads, Andy Williamson, Chris Eads, Scott Stacy, Jeremy Stacy, Jason Stacy, Josh Eads, Miranda Dale, Sarah Beth Eads, Brandye Box, Faye Avant, Steve Mack and Jason Vest. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great Grandchildren, Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church and the staff of Gentiva Hospice. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Building Fund, 125 Yorkville Rd, Columbus, MS 39702 or Gentiva Hospice, 189 Park Creek Drive, Columbus, MS 39701.
