Roy Roland King, 87, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his residence.
Visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Shawn Dickey officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, Ms with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. King was born February 3, 1935, in Steens, MS to the late Benjamin Franklin "Vinny" King, and Mittie Dunn King. He graduated from SD Lee High School in 1954, the first graduating class in the school on Military Road. Mr. King married Miss Daisy Catherine Smith on September 16, 1956. He worked in accounting for APAC for 36 years. Mr. King also served as a deacon at Columbus Church of Christ for many years. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, as well as a collector of antiques and tools. In addition to his parents, Mr. King is preceded in death by his brothers Everett, Granville, Winfred, and William King, and his sister, Vier Grace Taylor.
Mr. King is survived by his wife – Daisy Catherine Smith King, sons – Steve (Jill) King, Jason King, Columbus, MS and Bruce (Rozilyn) King, Chelsea, AL; grandchildren – Matt King, Shreveport, AL, Eric King, Birmingham, AL, Sara King, Austin, TX, Josh (Carly) King, Kelsi King and Cooper King, Columbus, MS; great-grandchildren – Emily and Hunter King, Shreveport, LA.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carly King, Kelli King, Sharon Dickey, Janet Robertson, Rick & Betty Bishop, Tommy & Kim Johnson, Aaron & Peggy Hill, and Tommy Johnson.
Memorials may be made to Columbus Church of Christ, 2401 7 th Street N., Columbus, MS 39705, for Hope School in Rwanda.
