Roy Weathers, 89 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Aurora Australis Lodge, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014 from 1-3 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Carlton Weathers officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Weathers was born February 2, 1925 in Steens, MS to the late L. D. and Neppie Lee Harris Weathers, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Rural Letter Carrier for U.S.P.S. for 55 years. Mr. Weathers was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Ethelsville, AL. He was active with FSA, formerly ASCS and served as a County Committeeman along with serving on the board of Lowndes Farm Supply. Mr. Weathers was an avid deer and turkey hunter and he was a volunteer coach at Propst Park for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife-Fannie Mae Weathers. Mr. Weathers is survived by daughters-Shirley (Terry) Bowles, Millport, AL and Carol (Dr. Dan) Moore, Downsville, LA; sons-Roy (Deborah) Weathers, Columbus, MS, Bill Weathers, Birmingham, AL and Paul Weathers, Ellisville, MS; grandchildren-Amber Willis, Carlton Weathers, Jordan Weathers, William David Weathers, Jr. , Allison Russo, LeAnne Murphy, Shannon Bowles and Angela Simpson and 14 great grandchildren.
