Russell Scott Mordecai, 66, passed away on Monday, October 07, 2019, at Vineyard Court Nursing Home. A visitation will be held at 2:00pm, on Sunday, October 13, 2019, from Lowndes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 3:00pm from the funeral home Chapel, with Tony Robertson officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to be entrusted with final arrangements.

Mr. Mordecai was born January 20, 1953, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Charlie Marion Mordecai and Johnnie Jernigan Mordecai. He was a member of Millport Church of Christ. Always a hard worker, he truly loved and enjoyed the outdoors, working as a Farmer in his younger years, and also having worked offshore as a Welder. He enjoyed life, his family and his friends, spending time hunting and fishing.  He had also been self-employed, owning and operating his own logging business, then later "Russell's" Convenience Store. He was an avid sports fan, and could always be found cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.

Mr. Mordecai was preceded in death by his father Charlie Marion Mordecai and brother- John Paul Mordecai

He is survived by his mother Johnnie Jernigan Mordecai; children: Christopher Scott Mordecai and Angie Mordecai; five grandchildren; sisters: Becky (Tony) Robertson and Marion (Eddie) Wright; and a host of extended family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry McReynolds, Eddy Wright, Tim Fortner, Frank Fortner, Lynn Jordan, and Mark Jordan.
