Ruth Clark Nichols, 98, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020, at her residence.

Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ray officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Nichols was born November 10, 1921, to the late Reverand James Samuel and Julia Kelly Clark in Fayette, AL. She was the oldest member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, having been a member for over seventy years. Mrs. Nichols worked for many years at Seminole Manufacturing Company in Columbus, then retiring to continue taking care of the home and farm with her husband. She dearly loved all her family, treasured the years of gathering together for fellowship and great food. Everyone enjoyed grandmother's cooking, especially her pecan pies. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband- Frank E. Nichols; six brothers; two sisters and grandson Brian Lane Bobitt.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by her daughter- Blanche Nichols Bobitt of Columbus, MS; sons- Aubrey (Joy) Nichols of Columbus, MS, Stephen (Marcia) Nichols of Kingston, GA; grandchildren- Frankie Bobitt, Jeff (Susanne) Nichols, Jay (Melissa) Nichols, Jarret Nichols, Stephanie Morton, Amy (Jeremy) Gardner, Kristie (Zach) Couey; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Frank Bobitt, Jeff Nichols, Jay Nichols, Jarret Nichols, Bobby Barksdale, Larry Daves. Honorary pallbearers will be the former Fidelis/Ruth Sunday School Class of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Larry and Michelle Daves, Milton Hansen, Jason Hansen, Dale Brewer, Linda Lamison, Nellie Caldwell, Jennifer and Cliff Wilkerson, and Hayden Campbell.
