Ruth Crutchfield Stockman, 87 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Windsor Place, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Whitney officiating. Interment will be at Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Stockman was born June 17, 1926 in Malvern, Arkansas to the late Thomas Frank and Ruth Marie Stevenson Crutchfield. She moved to Columbus 65 years ago from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Mrs. Stockman was a member of Grace Baptist Church also having attended Canaan Baptist Church. She worked in the Golden Goose Tea Room at MUW for over 30 years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband-Hezzie Arlington Stockman; grandsons- Donnie Atkins and Jay Atkins; brothers-Earl Crutchfield, Franklin Crutchfield, Ed Crutchfield and Jimmy Crutchfield; sisters- Effie Thompson, Louise Ellis and Irene Carter. Mrs. Stockman is survived by her son-Phil (Sheila) Atkins, Richland, MS; daughters- Rita Atkins, Roswell, GA, Mary Whelan, Ashburn, VA, Patsy (Gene) Shepherd, Columbus, MS and Kaye Thompson, Pellahatchie, MS; sisters- Betty (Paul) Vaugine, Springfield, MO, Erlene Alford, Columbus, MS and Patsy Lovell, North Little Rock, AR; grandchildren-Kevin Atkins, Christie Land,Jason Shepherd and Matt Shepherd and great grandchildren- Tyler Land, Maddy Allen, Taylor Bourgeois, Makayla Shepherd, Sophia Shepherd, Emily Land, Corey Atkins, Donnie Long, Greg Atkins and Ben Atkins. Pallbearers will be Jason Shepherd, Matt Shepherd, Tyler Land, Kevin Atkins, Tom Vaugine and Eddie Crutchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Shepherd,Frank Land, Warren Guin, Paul Vaugine, Tim Andrews, Bill King and Dr. Barton Williams.
