Obituary

Sallie Boyles Walker, 77 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11:30 am til 1:00 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. James Black officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Walker was born January 16, 1937 in Batesville, MS to the late Henderson Gregory and Pearl Cosby Boyles, Sr. She worked for the Lowndes County Department of Human Services for nine years before retiring in 1981. Mrs. Walker was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She attended St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Walker was an avid New Hope sports fan, especially softball and baseball. She was a very special person who tried to help make others dreams come true. Mrs. Walker was well known for being an excellent seamstress. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband-William Clay "Bill" Walker; brothers-John Robert Boyles, Henderson Gregory Boyles, Jr. and a sister-Betty Boyles Heddleston. Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters-Sylvia (Doug) Walker Colvin and Carol (Steve) Walker McKissack both of Columbus, MS; brothers-Joseph S. Boyles, Batesville, MS and William B. Boyles, Tupelo, MS; brother in law-Merritt Walker, Courtland, MS; grandchildren-Douglas Clay(Robin) Colvin, Casey Colvin (Matt)Glusenkamp, Michelle Mullins(Todd)Gibson, Danielle Nicole Mullins and great grandchildren- Presley Claire and William Brody Glusenkamp, Cooper Grady and Callen Rooster Gibson and Bryar Clay Colvin. Pallbearers will be Brantley Clay, Andrew Murray, Mike Smith, Mark Vickers, Stacy Hester, Matt Glusenkamp and Todd Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Harris, Lee Shappley, Grady Jaynes, Bobby Ward, Paul Brown, Earl Heath, New Hope Service Club and New Hope Rook Club. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 800 Tuscaloosa Rd., Columbus, MS 39702 or Timberlake Ministries, P.O.
