Samuel "Sam" Hewitt Darnell, 69, of Caledonia, MS, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at his residence.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  Service will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Andy Tentoni and Rick Darnell officiating. Private Graveside will follow with family.

Sam was born on February 4, 1955, in Columbus, MS, to Betty Lockhart Darnell and the late Dale Darnell. Sam was a cattle and agricultural farmer. He enjoyed working on his equipment, and tinkering around on the farm. . Sam loved deer hunting and mowing grass on his lawn mower. Sam helped set up manufacturing plants with Ecolab and was a CNC Operator.

Sam is survived by his sons- William Darnell and Lawrence (Amber) Darnell; grandchildren- Wyatt Darnell, Anna Belle Darnell, Pasleigh Darnell, and Brystol Darnell; brothers- Billy (Betty) Darnell and Rick (Karen) Darnell; and mother- Betty Lockhart Darnell.

Pallbearers will be – William Darnell, Lawrence Darnell, Rick Darnell, Walter Dodson, Barry Thompson, and Michael Nickoles.
