Shelby Lathan Box, 86 of Steens, MS passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Vineyard Court Nursing Center, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating. Interment will be in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Box was born November 6, 1927 to the late Earnest & Patty Burton Box in Tomnolen, MS and moved to Lowndes County 60 years ago from Vicksburg, MS. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church, Columbus, MS . Mr. Box was a self-employed Jack-of-all-trades and loved golfing, fishing, music and hunting. In addition to his parents, Mr. Box was preceded in death by his wife - Ella Mae Dunn Box, Son - Larry Box, and grandchildren - Stephen Box and Melissa Box. Mr. Box is survived by his daughter - Glenda (Jerry) Morrison, Columbus, MS, sons - Ernie Wayne (Jenny) Box, Steens, MS and Bobby L. (Jeanettia) Box, Steens, MS, sister - Elaine Hodges, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Scott Box, Keith Perrigin, Chris Perrigin, Mark Frady, Brad Box, Wesley Box and James Turner.
