Sherry Lynn Bryant, 60, was born October 23, 1965, in Brooksville, Mississippi, to Guy Hammack and the late Nan Hammack. She passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, with her husband, Jasen, by her side, holding her hand as she left this world.

A 1983 graduate of Caldwell High School, Sherry attended Mississippi State University before graduating from Mississippi University for Women. She later completed a 12-month laboratory technology program through North Mississippi Medical Center. Sherry devoted more than 37 years of her career to Baptist Memorial Hospital. She began her career in the hospital’s main laboratory and, since May 2009, had been dedicated to the Oncology Lab, where her compassion and servant’s heart were perfectly suited to caring for and serving others. She cared deeply for those around her and treasured the friendships she formed throughout her many years at Baptist. Her work family held a tremendously special place in her heart.

Sherry was known for her radiant natural beauty and effortless style. She carried herself with grace, warmth and an unmistakable elegance in every room she entered. Whether dressed to the nines or keeping things simple, her outward beauty was surpassed only by the beauty of her heart and the kindness with which she treated those around her.

On July 7, 2007, Sherry married Jasen Bryant in Las Vegas, beginning a marriage and life together that would become the center of their world. Through nearly two decades of marriage, they built a life rooted in companionship, togetherness and a love that gave each of them purpose. They enjoyed traveling together, but it was the ordinary days and simply being together that made their life so meaningful. They meant everything to each other, and the life they created together was a gift that not everyone is fortunate enough to experience. It was fitting that in her final moments, the hand holding hers was the same one that had walked beside her through so much of her life.

Family was deeply important to Sherry. She loved her daughters, Olivia and Abby, very much and carried a mother’s love for them throughout her life. She treasured her weekly Friday night dinners with her father, Guy, a tradition that meant so much to them both. In recent months, her heart was filled with joy and anticipation for the arrival of her first grandchild, Clara, and the opportunity to become a grandmother.

Sherry was a woman of deep and enduring Christian faith. She lived with a steady trust in God, and the words of 2 Timothy 4:7 beautifully reflect the life and faith she leaves behind: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Her faith was not simply something she spoke of; it was something she lived. Through both joy and difficulty, she remained grounded in her trust in God.

Sherry leaves behind a profound legacy of grace, beauty, kindness and unwavering faith that will continue to live through those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nannie Ray Hammack.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Jasen Bryant; her father, Guy Hammack of Columbus, Mississippi; her daughters, Olivia (Luke) Nielson of Byhalia, Mississippi and Abby Kemp of Gulfport, Mississippi; her soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Clara; her mother- and father-in-law, Karen and Greg Bryant; her sister-in-law, Stephanie (Lance) Godfrey; her nephew, Will (Wesleigh) Godfrey; her niece, Christina (Jared) Reed-Wood; and her great-nephew, Riley James Godfrey. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends and loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness, grace and love.

The family extends its deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the incredible village of devoted friends, prayer warriors, medical professionals and caregivers who surrounded Sherry and her family with extraordinary love, prayer, presence and support during her final days. The kindness, compassion and faithfulness shown to Sherry and those who loved her will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Brother Tommy Gilllon officiating.

Though Sherry’s absence leaves an immeasurable void, those who loved her find comfort in knowing that she fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.
