Shirley Ann Beaty Shirley Ann Beaty, 74 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2011 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services for Mrs. Beaty will be held Friday, September 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the church with Bro. Gene Gillis officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Beaty was born November 25, 1936 in Columbus, MS to the late Howard Jewell, Sr. and Ramie Lollar Jewell. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past twenty-two years having moved from Jackson, MS. Mrs. Beaty retired in 2008 from J.C. Penney with 32 years of service. Mrs. Beaty was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and her church was her love and passion. She was in a trio as a teenager and sang on the radio. Mrs. Beaty enjoyed helping everyone with a gift of hospitality. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Louise Jewell, Edna Earl Jewell; brothers, Howard Jewell, Jr., Robert "Bob" Henery Jewell, Jessie Thomas "J. T." Jewell and Albert Wayne Jewell. Mrs. Beaty is survived by her daughter, Patricia Beaty (Darryl) Hartness, Columbus, MS; sons, Michael Beaty, Tacoma, WA; Dennis Beaty, Columbus, MS and Ronald Beaty, Jackson, MS; sister, Mary Katherine Jewell Haygood, Columbus, MS; Betty Joyce Jewell Whaley, Columbus, MS; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her granddog, Charlie. Pallbearers will be Herbert Junkin, Walter Long, Jason Hanson, Milton Hanson, Buddy McCullough and Richard Cook.
