Shirley G. Smith, 83 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the Lowndes Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Chris Rutledge officiating.  Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Smith was born February 8, 1938 in McCool, MS to the late James Shelby and Mary Lovie Russell Gilbert.  She married Lamar Smith in 1960 in Weir, MS and together they raised 4 children.  They moved to Columbus, 51 years ago and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Smith was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 61 years – Lamar Smith, Columbus, MS; daughters – Tammy Vise, Fort Worth, TX and Kim Steel, Columbus, MS; sons – Rusty Smith, Lakeside, MT and Chris Smith, Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Everett, Jessee Vise, Rusty Smith, Chris Smith, Harvey Cook and Bill Nelson.
