Sloan Ian Atkins,22, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, September 30, 2019, at his residence.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Lowndes Funeral Home from 11 AM -1 PM. Funeral Service will be Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Carolina Cemetery at 2:30 PM with Perry Newton officiating. Interment will be in Carolina Cemetery, Nettleton, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Atkins was born October 2, 1996, in Amory, MS to Lisa Wood and Andrew Atkins. He was a Eagle Scout having been from Troop #24 then moved to Troop #3. Mr. Atkins enjoyed deer and dove hunting, music and spending time with family and friends. He was a 2015 graduate from New Hope High School. Mr. Atkins was in the Private 1 st Class in the MS National Guard. He was a security guard for GFS Security. Mr. Atkins is preceded in death by his grandmother-Nancy Atkins.
Mr. Atkins is survived by his mother- Lisa Wood Atkins; father- Andrew Atkins both of Columbus, MS; maternal grandparents- Jimmy (Brenda) Wood; paternal grandparent- Joseph Ellis Atkins; uncles- Keith Wood, Joseph (Kate) Atkins, and Matthew (Danielle) Atkins; aunt- Jenny (Christopher) Green and a host of great uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Doug Cox, William Brian Honnoll, Nicholas Tomas Moore, Mitchell Allen Bynum, Russell Richey, and Chris Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be GFS Security Team, Keith Wood, Justin Green, Matthew Atkins, Joey Atkins, Heath Hill, John Barnes, Jeremy Ward, and John Ward.
