Sophie "Dusty" Taylor, 92, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Windle officiating and Bro. Steve Lammons assisting. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Taylor was born August 26, 1925, in New London, CT to the late Harry and Olga Dubovick. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and of the Baptist faith. After High School, Mrs. Taylor enlisted in the United States Air Force in April of 1951 and was stationed at Hamilton AFB, California serving during the Korean War. During this time she also attended Oklahoma A & M College. She married Elvin Woodrow Taylor on September 13, 1952 in San Rafael, California. Mrs. Taylor later worked at United Technologies on the assembly line for ten years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her brothers- Walter (Tina Boodry) Dubovick, John Dubovick, and Alexander Dubovick; and one sister- Mary Senkewitcz.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her loving husband of 65 years- Elvin Woodrow "Big Red" Taylor of Columbus, MS; sons- Rodney (Lauren) Taylor of Birmingham, AL, and Bobby (Patricia) Taylor of Columbus, MS; daughter- Donna (Gary) Silas of Columbus, MS; grandchildren- Josh (Lindsey) Westbrook, Brandon Chase Taylor, Niccole (Josh) Thomas, Haley (Alex) Davis, Ashley (Tim) Kimbrell, Dawn (Casey) Jones, and Kris Silas; great-grandchildren- Slade Westbrook, Gavin Westbrook, Kaiden Kimbrell, Hunter Jones, Kristian Silas, Shawn Silas, Emma Faith Davis, Zoe Joyce Davis, and Eva Kate Davis; nieces- Lola (Jack) Delia, and Shirley Gorton; nephews- Walter (Kate) Dubovick, James (Barbara) Dubovick, and John (Linda) Dubovick.

Pallbearers will be Josh Westbrook, Chase Taylor, Tim Kimbrell, Alex Davis, Casey Jones, and Josh Thomas.
