Sue Bennett Payne, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Payne was born on October 19, 1929, in Panola, AL to the late Amzie Petty and Brooks Christian Bennett.  She retired as an accountant at Columbus Air Force Base, Columbus, MS.  Mrs. Payne was a member of McBee Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. She loved being outdoors working in the yard, mowing, bush hogging, and gardening with her flowers.  She enjoyed traveling and reading in her spare time.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband – William "Frank" Payne; brother – Amzie Bennett, Jr., and 1 grandchild.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughters – Judy Trimble, Millport, AL and Suzy Tillett, Columbus, MS; son- Gene Payne, Gulfport, MS, and brother - Larry Bennett, Navarre, FL; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Gore, Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. Wail Alnas, Hospice of Northwest Alabama, and John Beard.
