Teddy H. Lewis, 86, of Nokomis, FL and formerly Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital in Venice, FL after a brief illness.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS in charge of the arrangements.
The son of the late Lunie and Elma Lewis, he was born in Putnam County, IN on December 22, 1933, where he grew up and graduated from Eminence High School. Teddy was a retired Major and member of the 901 st Refueling Wing in the United States Air Force. He was also a retired carrier with the United States Postal Service. He moved to Nokomis, Fl after the passing of his wife of 43 years, Ava Nell, to be near his brother, Freddie. Teddy enjoyed working on and selling cars, home improvement projects, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his loved ones. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his wife Ava Nell; and brother- Freddie Lewis.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his son- Kerry (Luann) Lewis of Columbus, MS ; loving companion- Barbara Kawamoto and Snickers of Sun City Center, FL; grandsons- Jeffrey Lewis of Columbus, MS and David Lewis of Denver, CL; step-grandaughters- Lucy (Pash) Crabble; step-grandson- Cole Little both of Columbus, MS; nephew- Dale (Lora) Lewis; niece- Marsha Harrison, and many great-nieces and nephews all of Avon, IN.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Jacobs, Tom Dilworth, Randy James, Ronnie Chain, Barney Conn, Sonny Cole, and the residents of Kings Gate Club in Nokomis, FL.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, 50 Airline Rd, Columbus, MS 39702, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 42, Memphis, TN 38105.
