Tommy Lamar Crowley, 89, of Columbus, MS passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, at Windsor Place. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy, AL at 3:00 PM with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home and Crematory in Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Tommy was born to Henry and Ada Crowley in Kennedy, Alabama on September 22, 1934. He and his twin were the 10th and 11th children of 13 but his twin sadly passed when they were only a couple of days old. He moved to Columbus in 1960, and lived the rest of his life here but traveled back to Kennedy on an almost daily basis for as long as he was able. He retired from Omnova Solutions after 22 years of service in 1991, when he suddenly lost his hearing. He was affectionately known as the "lawnmower man" and worked on small motors in his spare time and after retirement.
He was the last living of his siblings and besides his parents was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Lee, Henry Benjamin, Bennie D, Raymond Benjamin, Len Dalton, and his twin, Tuck and his sisters, Linnie Lucille, Melba Mae, Lillie Jean, Sylvia Mae, Eva Ruth, and Ada Katherine.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Phillips of Columbus, and the loves of his life his grandchildren, Christina Spann and her husband Will of Columbus and Michael David Patterson of Steens, and his great granddaughters who he loved so much Mary Catherine and Eva Rose Spann.
