Troy F. Jaynes Troy Franklin (Hook) Jaynes, 82, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 AM at Ethelsville Baptist Church, Ethelsville, AL with Bro. Mel Howton officiating and Bro. Danny Holllis assisting. Interment will be in Ethelsville Baptist Church Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Jaynes was born in Pickens County, AL on March 18, 1930 to the late Early E. and Lucille Wharton Jaynes and was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 39 years. He served 21 years as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Jaynes fought in the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War, and was behind the Berlin Wall. He worked at General Tire after his retirement from the military. Mr. Jaynes then worked at Car-gill and retired there as well. He loved to fish, especially crappie. Mr. Jaynes loved riding with his dog, Toot, and spending time with friends. He loved talking about the Lord, reading his Bible, had a great passion for God, and enjoyed having sit down conversations and talking about past experiences with knowledge and wisdom. Mr. Jaynes loved traveling, camping, and gardening, especially hibiscus flowers of all color. He loved being around and spending time with all of his grandkids and great grandkids and had such a great sense of humor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jaynes was preceded in death by his wife – Vesta Olean Jaynes and grandsons – Todd Jeremy Jaynes and Noah Aaron Cutter. Mr. Jaynes is survived by his sons – Troy Neal (Denise) Jaynes and Harold Jaynes, both of Ethelsville, AL; daughters – Wanda (Jerry) Riley, Columbus, MS; Anita (Mike) Ruffin, Ethelsville, AL; stepson – Thomas L. (Nancy) Atkins, Santa Fe, NM; stepdaughters – Peggy J. Atkins, Casper, WY; Judith A. Bridges, Birmingham, AL; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Survivors also include his three sisters – Annie Pearl Ponds and Helen Danner, both of Ethelsville, AL; and Ora Pearl Moore McDaniel of Reform, AL. Pallbearers will be Frank Ponds, Tim Jaynes, Dawson Jaynes, Chad Ruffin, Steve Moore, David Dees, Kevin Drewry, Kevin Nicely, and Lee Danner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Perrigin, Carl Shelton, Bobby Jaynes, Lawrence Moore, Ken Robinson, Doug Nicely, and many long time friends throughout the years.
