Varnell Wiginton McCown, 95, passed away Tuesday, September, 29, 2015 at Trinity Health Care, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 2:00pm at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS. Mrs. McCown was born March 3, 1920 to the late Valley Wiginton and Lois Clark Wiginton in Hamilton, AL. She moved from Hamilton and has lived in Columbus for about 70 years. Mrs. McCown was a member of the First Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. In her spare time, when she was not enjoying her family as a homemaker, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband-H. W. McCown, Jr; and her daughter-Miriam Ann Robinson. She is survived by her son-Stan Clark McCown, Columbus, MS; sister-Evelyn (Jackie) Duke, Amory, MS; and brother-Edwin Wiginton, Samson, AL; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
