Obituary

Vera Mae Shelton, age 92, of Caledonia, MS passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Leoma Baptist Church, Leoma, TN.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Mitch McWilliams officiating.  Interment will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens, Lawrenceburg, TN with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Shelton was born November 28, 1925 to the late John William and Lucy Turbyfill Shedd in Russellville, AL and moved to Caledonia, MS 13 years ago from Leoma, TN.  Mrs. Shelton was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Columbus, MS where she enjoyed teaching the 2 and 3 year old class.  Mrs. Shelton was a retired cook from Lawrence County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, TN.  She loved to paint, garden (especially flowers), read, cook and spend time with her dog "Hansi".  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her husband – Grady Shelton and grandchild – Michael Shelton, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Mrs. Shelton is survived by her sons – Tony (Willie) Shelton, Middleburg, FL and Mike (Virginia) Shelton, Belleville, IL; daughter – Brenda (Terry) Bouchard,  Caledonia, MS; grandchildren – Jason Shelton, Peggy Yates, Wade Bouchard, Grant Bouchard and Tori Shelton; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters-in-laws – June Shedd and Jan Pate of Lawrenceburg, TN.

Family request memorials be made to Antioch Baptist Church, Parking Lot Fund, 6080 Hwy 45 N., Columbus, MS  39705.
