Victor Unruh, 59, of Starkville, MS, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife by his side at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS on August 23, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Victor was born May 10, 1965, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Milferd and Marietta (Nightingale) Unruh and they moved to Mississippi when he was four months old. He married the love of his life, Mavis Ann Cockrell, on September 15, 1991. Victor started his own business, Mid South Air Conditioning, Inc. in 1994. He took great pride in his HVAC work and caring for his customers. Victor and Mavis were both partners in business and best friends in life. He will be remembered for his love of God, family and friends.
Victor is survived by his wife of almost 33 years: Mavis; parents: Milferd and Marietta Unruh of Brooksville, MS; four brothers: Mike (Rhonda) Unruh of Caledonia, MS, Brent (Deena) Unruh of Columbus, MS, Trent (Bobbie) Unruh of Sulligent, AL, and Gerald (Marleno) Unruh of Columbus, MS; one sister: Melissa Unruh of Brooksville, MS; mother-in-law: Denise Walker of Louisville, MS; brothers-in-law: Robert Jackson (Amy) Cockrell of Reform, AL and Ben (Brenda) Walker of Louisville, MS; sister-in-law: Margaret (Bubba) Stockton of Starkville, MS; "sister-in-law": Dana Moorhead of Reform, AL; half sisters-in-law: Stacy Cockrell and Kaylan Cockrell; one god-daughter; one grand-god-daughter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and furry, feathered, and shelled babies.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Columbus Church of Christ, 2401 7th Street North, Columbus, MS from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation with minister Newt Guerry officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Hill Road, Reform, AL. Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be J.T. Burkis, Wesley Lake, Robert Jackson Cockrell, Clint Kyles, Ben Walker, and Bubba Stockton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wesley Koehn, James Zismann, Tim Flora, Gerry Lee, his Bible Study Group, and all his nephews and cousins.

Victor will be greatly missed by family and friends.
