Virgil Eugene Stokes, 83, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his residence. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 2 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Stokes was born August 3, 1931 in Crawford, MS to Sydney Clarence and Eula Jaroose Harrell Stokes. He was an automotive sales manager for 25 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stokes is preceded in death by his sisters - E.C. Herron, Alver Miller and Arnell Miller. Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Maxine Stokes, Columbus, MS, sons - Kenneth Rex (Gatha) Stokes, William Ronald (Florence) Stokes, and Rickey Gene Stokes, all of Columbus, MS, daughter - Sherry Kaye (Billy) Richardson, Steens, MS, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kevin Stokes, Kenny Stokes, Billy Miller, Bobby Miller, Raymond Miller, and Johnny Herron.
