Obituary

Vivian J. Swartz, 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at her residence. Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 9:30-11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. James Black officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, directing. Mrs. Swartz was born November 3, 1926 to the late Leslie and Lulie Cole Jones in Hightogy, AL. She was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS where she taught Sunday School and worked with Children's Ministry. Mrs. Swartz retired in 1988 after working for Glenn Machine Works for thirty-seven and a half years. She was a member of the Volunteer RSVP Band, enjoyed sewing especially for children's cloth books and cooking, she was famous for her homemade dumplings. Mrs. Swartz is survived by her husband-Lloyd Carl Swartz, Columbus, MS; daughter- Elaine (Quavis) Romedy and son-Lloyd (Kay) Swartz both of Columbus, MS; sister- Dorothy West, Columbus, MS; grandchildren- Wendi (Ellis) Lachney, Kim Swartz, Sara (Chad) Turner, and Andy Swartz; great-grandchildren-Brynann Turner, Jaxon Turner and McKensi Lachney. Pallbearers will be Harold Youngblood, Doug Colvin, Mike Upton, David Ashmore, Tommy Johnson, Jr., Darren Hall, Greg Swartz, Jay McCrary and Eddie Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be former and current EE's of Glenn Machine Works, RSVP Band, Class of 1944 classmates of Lee High School. Memorials may be made to Children's Ministry of St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 800 Tuscaloosa Rd., Columbus, MS 39702.
