Walter "Johnny" Brumley, 84 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Brumley was born March 23, 1929 to the late Hoyt & Elizabeth Walker Brumley in Many, LA. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, worked at Holiday Golf for 6 years and worked for 82/45 Food Mart for 20 years. Mr. Brumley was a Mason and a member of the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brumley was preceded in death by his sisters - Gladys Bradford and Aliece Welch, brothers - William Brumley, Ruhl Brumley and Wilton Brumley, great-grandson - Kristopher Houser. Mr. Brumley is survived by his wife of 64 years - Lois Brumley, Columbus, MS, daughter - Darlena (Kenneth) Thompson, Columbus, MS, sisters - Hazel Ladner, Vernice Thames, Irene Allen, brothers - Clyde Brumley and Elton Brumley, grandchild - Bridget Houser, great-grandchild - Tyler Houser. Pallbearers will be Tyler Houser, Chris Houser, Kenneth Thompson, Sidney Thompson and Eugene Clark, Honorary Pallbearers will be Staff of Baptist Hospice and Comforcare, Columbus, MS.
