William "Sonny" Luecke, 80, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019, at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 28, 2019, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Sammy Crawford and Rev. Tommy Gillon officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Luecke was born March 2, 1939, in Pickens County, AL to the late William Arthur Luecke, Sr. and Tempie McAdams Luecke Vickery. Mr. Luecke worked for the City of Columbus for many years and retired as the Columbus Building Official. He was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church and participated in the church orchestra. He served over 28 years in the Army National Guard in both MS and AL. As a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, he was a proud recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Above all things "Sonny" never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather who raised him- Mahlon Vickery, Sr. and his brother-Kenny Vickery both of Columbus.

Mr. Luecke is survived by his wife of 59 years-Jamie Beaty Luecke; children- Lynn (Mike) Packard of Millington, TN, Mark (Linda) Luecke of Birmingham, AL, and Malinda (Dale) Hill of Steens, MS; brothers- Robert (Wyn) Luecke of Columbus, MS, Harold (Kay) Vickery of GA, and Mahlon (Donna) Vickery, Jr of GA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Wierengo Sunday School Class.
