William Litle "Dugan" Ellis, IV William Litle "Dugan" Ellis, IV, 86 passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at his residence. He was born on January 4, 1925 to the late Marie Dowdle Ellis and William Litle Ellis, III. Mr. Ellis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later the Korean War. During World War II. He was stationed on the U.S.S. New Jersey, flagship of Admiral William "Bull" Halsey, receiving 1 Silver Star and 4 Bronze Stars for participating in the major Pacific battles. Following World War II, Mr. Ellis was called back to serve in the Korean War for a year and a half. Mr. Ellis was employed by Commercial Credit Corporation and retired as District Manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post 4272. Mr. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Corabell Wood Ellis. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife – Eleanor Griffin Ellis, Columbus, MS; step daughter – Pamela Griffin (Harold) Bullock, Columbus, MS; sisters – Willodean E. Hollingsworth, Columbus, MS and Lorean E. (Kenneth) Allen, Ridgeland, MS; brother – Selwyn H. (Donna) Ellis, Andalusia, AL; nephews – Ken Allen, Jackson, MS, Hale Ellis, Atlanta, GA, Rodney Glover and Henry Glover of Columbus, MS, Mike Glover, Slocomb, AL, Stuart Glover, Jackson, MS, John Hollingsworth, D/Lo, MS; nieces – Lynn A. (Randy) Majek, San Antonio, TX Shanna Harmon, Birmingham, AL, Carolyn H. Junkin, Wichita, KS and Patricia H. Tweddle, Cody, WY; and granddaughters – Laura B. (Steve) Reynolds and Rebecca Bullock. Pallbearers were Rodney Glover, Henry Glover, Mike Glover, Stuart Glover, Hale Ellis, and Ken Allen. Honorary Pallbearers were Henry & Yvonne Key, Clyde Shelton, Grady & Anniette Partain, David Shelton, Hazel Jaynes, Harry Dowdle, Steve McEwen, Greg Andrews, Steve Ellis, Dana Ellis, John David Reed, and Ron Smith. Services were held at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2 PM with Dr. Shawn Parker and Dr. Johnny Presley officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral. Interment was in Beersheba Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
