William Arthur Jones, Jr. 88 of Caledonia, MS passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Harding officiating.  Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jones was born June 16, 1928, to the late William Arthur and Annabelle Dotherow Jones, Sr in Columbus, MS and lived all his life in Lowndes County except while he was serving in the military.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired in 1983 after 20+ years of service.  Mr. Jones was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS.  He was an avid Mississippi State Fan and enjoyed Caledonia Football games.  He also enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard.   In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife - Jane Carolyn Dyer Jones, son – Col. Donald Edwin Jones; sisters – Mary Alice McClure and Dixie Lucille Brownlee.

Mr. Jones is survived by his sister – Sallie Mildred (James) Atkins, Lillian, AL, granddaughters – Tracy Blair, Tricia Batson, and Rachel Jones; great-grandchildren – Brandon Jones, Nicholas Blair, Tyler Blair, Jasmine Batson and Amelia McFetridge.

Pallbearers will be Allen Jones, Perry Bush, Jason Dyer, David Atkins, Andy Wood and Wade Gann. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Chris Harding and Friends of Kolola Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS.
