William Walter Lavender William Walter Lavender, 71 of Ethelsville, AL passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at West Alabama Hospice, Tuscaloosa, AL. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2 PM at Union Chapel Baptist Church, Ethelsville, AL. Family and Friends attending services are asked to dress casually. Mr. Lavender was born September 14, 1939 in Pickens Co., AL to the late Ludie E. Lavender and Emma Edgeworth Lavender. He was a lifetime resident of Pickens Co., AL. Mr. Lavender was a self-employed mechanic having retired in 2000. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Lavender was a member of Tuesday Night Fishing Club, Thursday Night Fishing Club, and Pickensville Marina Bass Club. He also made fishing lures, repaired fish lures and rod and reels. He was a member of Forest Methodist Church. Mr. Lavender is preceded in death by his sister – Nell Shelton. Mr. Lavender is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vernie Mae Sandlin Lavender, Ethelsville, AL; daughters – Sherry Spearing, Macon, MS; Cathy (Jerry) Burkhalter, Kennedy, AL; Janice Fowler, Columbus, MS; Catherine (David) Turner, Montgomery, AL and son – Bobby (Patricia) Lavender, Caledonia, MS; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
