Mr. William Edward Sims, 68 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Trinity Health Care, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating.  Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Sims was born November 22, 1953, in Davenport, IA to the late Myra McGee Sims and William "Slim" Sims.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Mr. Sims worked with Warrior Tractor for over twenty years and retired from United Rentals after 15 years.  He loved his family and spending time with his daughter and granddaughter.  He loved animals and was especially good at his work as a diesel mechanic.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Sims.

Mr. Sims is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Monroe Sims, and daughter- Shelley (Jonathan) Tuggle, of Columbus, MS, granddaughter – Haven Tuggle; brother Jerry (Pam) Sims, of Aberdeen, MS; sister – JoAnne (Greg) Burrage, of Caledonia, MS; and four nieces
