Obituary

Ted Hoyt, 41 of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his mother's home in Columbus, MS after fighting a brave battel with brain cancer. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 1-2 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Father Robert Dore officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Ted graduated in 1990 from Starkville High School where he ran track and played football. He attended Mississippi State University before moving to Southhaven. There he worked in the entertainment industry at the Horseshoe Casino for 13 years where he met many lifelong friends. Ted loved music and played in the local band "Lack" in the early 90's. He continued to write songs, poetry, and play the guitar throughout his life. Ted also enjoyed spending time with friends bowling, playing trivia, poker and other card games. He was a very special person with a very large, loving circle of close friends. Ted was the kindest, most thoughtful and loving person who leaves behind many friends and family who will one day be reunited with him in Heaven. His beloved parents, William F. Hoyt, Columbus, MS, and Wanda E. Hoopes, Columbus, MS, wife, Audrey Robinson Hoyt, Southhaven, step-father, James F. Hoopes, Columbus, MS, step-mother, Nell S. Hoyt, Columbus, MS, brother, Jon (Cora) Hoyt, Scott, AR, sisters, Theresa (Dale) Pendley, Columbus, MS, Barbara ( Jeff) Hoopes, Manassas Park, VA, and Ellen (Mike) Ellis, Columbus, MS, step-sister, Melinda (Bob) Clark, Columbus, MS, nephews, Rick Ammerman, Tuscaloosa, AL, Drew Hoyt and Russell Pendley both of Columbus, MS, nieces, Valerie Hoopes, Manassas Park, VA and Angela (Paul) Collins, Mobile, AL. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hoopes, Mike Ellis and Dale Pendley. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Ammerman and Drew Hoyt. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213 and Any Cancer Research of Donor's Choice.
