William Clay Walker William Clay "Bill" Walker, 81 of Columbus, MS passed away, Monday, June 18, 2012 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Walker will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 6 - 9 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2 PM at Mt. Vernon Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Clark Richardson, officiating and Bro. James Black, assisting. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Walker was born February 23, 1931 to the late Melbourne Drew and Ruth Roache Walker in Courtland, MS. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War and the Mississippi National Guard. Mr. Walker was a member of the official board of United Methodist Church, Batesville, MS and United Methodist Church, Hamilton, AL. He married Sallie Boyles in 1956 in Batesville, MS and moved to Columbus in 1970 where he was employed with Tennessee Gas Pipeline as District Superintendent for 40 years. Mr. Walker was a member of Mt. Vernon Church where he was a host family for DiscipleNow and helped build churches throughout Louisiana and Mississippi as a Brotherhood Mission Worker. He was an alderman in the Methodist Church, a charter member of the New Hope Service Club , a charter member of the New Hope Exchange Club, a member of the Rook Club and Hank's Hunting Club. He was a Master Mason in Lodge 66, Batesville, MS and a Past Master. Mr. Walker was a New Hope Trojan and Lady Trojan fan from 1982 - 2011 when he became disabled. Home or Away games he followed baseball, basketball, softball and soccer. Mr. Walker followed the Mississippi Stars to the SunBelt Classic in McAllister, OK, went to the Southeast Conference Baseball Tournament in Hoover, AL, followed baseball in Mississippi, Alabama, Hawaii, Tennessee, Florida and Arizona, he followed baseball to the Dizzy Dean Little League, American Legion Baseball and attended the NCAA Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska twice. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his brothers - Melbourne Lee Walker and James W. Walker, twin brother - Garland Wray Walker, sisters - Shirley Walker Gottlieb, Mary Walker Norsworthy and Ann Walker Reeves Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 56 years - Sallie Walker, Columbus, MS, daughters - Sylvia Walker (Doug) Colvin, Columbus, MS, Carol Walker Mullins, Columbus, MS, brother - Merritt Hunt Walker, Courtland, MS, grandchildren - Clay (Robin) Colvin, Rhineland-Phaltz, Germany, Michelle Mullins(Todd) Gibson, Ethelsville, AL, Casey Colvin (Matt) Glusenkamp, West Point, MS, Danielle Nicole Mullins, Tallahassee, FL, great-grandchildren - Presley Claire Glusenkamp, William Brody Glusenkamp, Cooper Grady Gibson and Bryar Clay Colvin and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Andrew Murray, William Michael "Mike" Smith, Johnny Bufkin, Stacy Hester, Frank Goodman, Andy Stewart, Mark Vickers, Bill Delk, Billy Holley and Charlie Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Green, Earl Heath, Henry Heafner, All Trojans & Lady Trojans, Tennessee Gas Employees and Retirees, Hank's Hunting Club, New Hope Service Club, Rook Club, Chauncey Green, Lloyd Green, Bill Cole, Mac McCollough, Buddy McCollough, New Hope Coaching Staff, Staff of Baptist Hospice and Dr. Robert Dill.
