Obituary

William Berry "W.B" West, 76, of Columbus, MS passed away April 16, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT. Visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. James Black officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. West was born September 22, 1938 in Aberdeen, MS to the late William Berry West, Sr. and the late Doris Evelyn Kemp West. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1st Class for 4 years. He received a Business and Industrial Engineering Degree from Mississippi State University in 1966. Mr. West met Martha Pope at Burris Chair Factory and got married December 21, 1968. He moved to Columbus, MS in 1977 and worked for United Technologies as an Industrial Engineer and Supervisor and retired in 1996. Mr. West worked at Menotti Honda for 3 years as a salesman. He transferred cars for multiple dealerships for the past 14 years. Mr. West enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, spending time with family and grandchildren, going to church, gardening, trading out cars, and loved watching the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his parents, Mr. West is preceded in death by his brother - David West. Mr. West is survived by his wife - Martha Pope West, Columbus, MS; daughter - Felicia (Todd) Elmore, Columbus, MS; sons - Marcus West and Michael West, both of Columbus, MS; brother - Jerry (Sandra) West; grandchildren - Sydnee Elmore, Dawson Elmore, Morgan Elmore and Riley Kate Elmore; brother-in-law - Wayne (Margaret) Pope; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many dear friends. Pallbearers will be Wayne Pope, James Siegle, Jimmy Hildreth, Alvin Trapp, Doug Colvin, Sammy Carson, Chris Murray, and Phil Horton. Honorary Pallbearers will be cousins and his car driving buddies. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 800 Tuscaloosa Road, Columbus, MS 39702 or to the charity of donor's choice.
