Willie Daniel Brown, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 1-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM with Bro. Frank Porter, Jr. officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon and Bro. James Walden assisting. Interment will be at Wesley Chapel in Kennedy, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Brown was born December 31, 1922 in Douglasville, GA to the late Maurice and Lomie Parsons Brown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII. Mr. Brown retired in 1984 after 40 years as Manager of A & P Grocery. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the 55 Plus Ministry. Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing, woodworking, paint by numbers, collecting coins and gardening, especially growing roses. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 67 years- Hazel Gilreath Brown, Columbus, MS; daughters- Reba (Frank) Porter, Columbus, MS, Cathy (Warren) Kreun, Savannah, GA and Susan (Raymond) Rivers, Calera, AL; grandchildren- Frank Porter, Jr., Randy Porter, T.J. Kreun, Libby Kessler, and Hannah Rivers; great-grandchildren- Caden Porter, Grayson Porter, Caden Kreun, Gavin Kessler and Bishop Porter; nephew-Tommy Brown and niece- Beth Morris. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gilreath, Tommy Brown, Danny Thompson, Bill Welch, Don Lancaster and T. J. Kreun . Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Brown, Don Miller, Mark Horning, Warren Shepherd, Staff of Fairview Baptist Church, Staff and Friends at Trinity Independent Living, Fidelis Sunday School Class, Ken Linton/Ray Crosby Sunday School Class, Greg Beach and Dr. Brad Brown.
