Winford Swedenburg,91, of Crawford, MS passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.
Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2019, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM at Good Shepard Episcopal. Funeral service will follow at 11:15 AM with Rev. Sandra DePriest officiating.
Mr. Swedenburg was born January 18, 1928, in Greene County, AL to the late Evelyn Hidrick and Walter Swedenburg. He was a 1947 graduate from Lee High School. Mr. Swedenburg served in the United States Navy during the Koren Conflict. He was a dairy farmer, then a cattle farmer to a soybean farmer. He was an avid golfer for many years, enjoyed going to MSU basketball, baseball and football games. Mr. Swedenburg was involved in 2 supper clubs and a holiday club. He enjoyed playing tennis with his children and nieces and nephews. Mr. Swedenburg loved gardening. In addition to his parents, Mr. Swedenburg is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years- Marjorie Dou Mullens Swedenburg; grandchild-Zach Swedenburg and brother-Red (Dot Cook) Swedenburg.
Mr. Swedenburg is survived by his daughter- Shelly (Rusty) Russell; son- David Swedenburg; grandchildren-Shannon (Elliott) Dismukes and Windy (James) Dunnum; great-grandchildren- Kaetlyn (Terry Logan) Dismukes, Tyler Boltwood, Tristin Dismukes, Damien Sansing, Aubry Sansing and Bella Sansing; great-great-grandchild- Ella Kate Logan; brothers- Billy (Shirley) Swedenburg and Rex (Patty) Swedenburg, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
