Wyman B. Mason, age 81, of Steens, MS passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Curtis officiating and Pastor Ferrell Hester assisting. Interment will be in Lone Oak Cemetery, Steens, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Wyman was born on August 1, 1936, in Steens, MS to the late Edward Albert and Ruby Catherine Ashcraft Mason.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 – 1962 and in the Reserves for an additional 2 years.  He attended Barber School and owned and operated Silver Blade Barber Shop in Norwalk, CA for many years before returning to his hometown of Steens to care for his ailing parents.  He was a member of Caledonia Church of Christ and loved his church family.  He loved boating and was an avid water skier.  He shared his life with many beloved pets including Pepe, Dusty, Tinker, Mitzi, Boots, Peaches, Pebbles and his talking African Grey parrot named Coco.

Wyman is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Carol Wamsley Mason; one brother, Raymond Masson (Viki) of Aberdeen, MS; one stepson, David Shawn Babbitt of Phillippi, WV; and his two poodles, Gigi and Candy.

Pallbearers will be Mark Mason, Will Mason, George Heath, Carson Heath, Donnie Harrell, and Taylor Stephens.  Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Reed.  Nurse Practitioner Vanessa Herndon and the entire staff at Pulmonary Consultants in Tupelo, MS, Eddie Lawson, Perry Bush, Keith Mitchell, Tommy Betts, Paul Curry, Gordon Banks, Sonny Graham, Jerry Harrell, Danny Weathers, Russ Taylor, Gary Conquest, Blake Koenigsberger and Elbert Wheat.
